Forest Tractors grew out of the Forest Plant Hire business started in the 1960's by Mr & Mrs Allen at Barking, Essex.
By the time that SHB acquired the business in 1989, due to the Allens' retiring, it had built up a reputation for supplying tractors, not only with the usual equipment but also fitted with specialist modifications such as cranes and large winches.

SHB was a major provider of 4x4 vehicles to the cross country pipeline industry and had already started operating some tractor cranes.
The acquisition of Forest Tractors enabled these customers to fulfil their 4x4 vehicle and tractor requirements from a single supplier.

In recent times, with few cross country pipelines being built, the business has expanded its fleet of tractor drawn tankers, to include water for dust suppression and fuel for earth moving equipment.
Crane tractors have generally been replaced by 4WD Telescopic Handlers and our fleet now includes many JCB Telehandlers.

The ever growing need for towing bigger & bigger trailers faster & faster has also led us to offer JCB Fastracs for hire.
Combining the SHB 4x4 Hire and Forest Tractor fleet enables SHB to satisfy all customers off road transport requirements.
