Maintenance

SHB have a robust maintenance regime in place for all vehicles managed by our dedicated compliance team. The team are split into pro-active and reactive with the former handling all scheduled maintenance and the latter handling any impromptu maintenance. The central maintenance team in our Romsey Head Office manages all support activities from booking routine services to ensure our vehicles are serviced annually; PMIs and safety inspections are carried out along with all ancillary equipment.

The Compliance team pro-actively work with our customers all over the UK to manage all maintenance scheduling and reminders through our Incident Management System, Kerridge. We keep our customers aware of any impending dates and that the work is carried out to confirm the vehicle remains compliant and legal.

We provide on-site servicing, which has been developed to reduce vehicle and operative downtime. We are authorised by leading manufacturers to carry out our own servicing and warranty work and many of our vehicles carry vehicle diagnostic systems enabling us to repair vehicles that would otherwise require dealer attention.

Our breakdown and maintenance support line operates 24/7 and 365 days a year and our experienced Maintenance Team will log the details onto our Incident Management system before deciding on the best and quickest solution in order to resolve the incident. On receipt of a breakdown we can confirm attendance within 60-90 minutes of a call out.

Our dedicated team of 55 mobile technicians are trained to carry out onsite repairs and maintenance to our rental fleet as well as to client owned assets to help reduce vehicle downtime. We are authorised by leading manufacturers to carry out our own servicing and warranty work and many of our vehicles carry diagnostic systems and fast moving spares enabling us to repair vehicles that would otherwise require dealer attention. Our local depots have full workshop facilities providing full servicing, inspections, repairs, MOTs and major breakdown work.

The majority of our depots have body shop repair facilities. We can work with our clients on any shared workshop locations and transfer and management of workshops. We are also able to provide customers with R & M packages to fit your needs.

Aftercare

The on site servicing of SHB vehicles was established over 40 years ago and has now become the benchmark that many of our competitors struggle to reach. Our mobile mechanics are based not only from our national branch network but many work from their homes in areas away from our branches in order to provide true rapid national coverage.

Their 3.5T vans are fitted with compressors, welding equipment, engine cranes and specialist tools together with a full stock of fast moving spares to ensure that not only routine servicing but also major repairs such as Land Rover clutch changes can be done on site. Our Network of mobile mechanics is controlled by our national service team based at Romsey utilising mobile phones and GPS tracking systems. This setup enables us to minimise the disruption and inconvenience to our customers of changing vehicles or the mercy of local garages.

In the event of being unable to repair a vehicle on site our own fleet of transporters can quickly exchange the stricken vehicle with a suitable replacement from our nearest branch. The service team organise service and inspection schedules liasing with customers, drivers and our mobile mechanics to co-ordinate the optimum time and place to carry out the necessary work.

Many of our branches have body shops and are approved M.O.T. testing stations to widen our ability to speedily maintain our vehicles. Over £½m of spares are stacked nationally by us to help ensure minimum downtime whilst vehicles are being serviced and repaired. SHB workshops and mobile mechanics have been accredited by several manufacturers including Land Rover and Toyota, to carry out warranty repairs

Servicing Customers Own Vehicles

Over the years, being operators of the largest civilian Land Rover fleet in Europe, many of our hire customers asked us if we could maintain their own Land Rovers for them. This has led to a substantial business in maintaining not just Land Rovers but all types of vehicles not only for major customers such as the National Trust and The Environment Agency but also for many private and corporate owners.

The combination of our on site servicing abilities and wide ranging workshop facilities have proved the ideal solution to many customers wishing to own their vehicles but not having their own maintenance capabilities.
