In March 1992, SHB Hire Ltd was the first vehicle hire company in the country to be awarded the BS5750 Certificate (now replaced by ISO 9001:2015) which we have maintained to this day. In 2012 we achieved OHSAS18001 (Health & Safety) which is currently in transition to ISO45001 and in January 2013 ISO14001 (Environmental) thus making SHB one of a select few to hold all three simultaneously.
The Health, Safety, Quality, and the Environmental commitments within SHB are key to the success of the business not only in terms of financial and economic success but also in terms of our social responsibility to comply with the law, and promote general awareness within the business and partners along with providing a safe and rewarding working environment for our employees.
SHB has made the decision to commit to this objective by implementing a robust and effective management system and organisation to address:
- The provision of products and services right first time
- Compliance with appropriate legislation.
- Provide a safe environment for its employee’s contractors and customers.
- Prevent or reduce environmental impacts
- Commit to continuous improvement of systems and processes.
These core policies are further expanded in the management policy statement for each discipline and can be downloaded from this website.
The SHB Directors can confirm and demonstrate pursuit of these policies through their adoption of the three core management standards ISO9001 (quality), OHSAS 18001 (Health and safety) and ISO14001 (Environment) assessed and validated by BSI Group.
In September 2015 we gained the Fleet Operation Recognition Scheme (FORS) Bronze accreditation at our Heathrow depot which we have maintained since.
Using these three standards and FORS accreditation, the business continues to develop and improve systems and processes that is used throughout the SHB Hire network of Depots.
