The on-site servicing of SHB vehicles was first established over 40 years ago and has since become the benchmark that many of our competitors struggle to reach.

Our Mobile Mechanics are not only based at our national branches but many of them also work from their homes in areas away from our branches in order to provide true rapid national coverage.

Their 3.5T vans are fitted with compressors, welding equipment, engine cranes and specialist tools together with a full stock of fast moving spares to ensure that not only routine servicing but also major repairs such as Land Rover clutch changes can be done on-site.

Our Network of Mobile mechanics is controlled by our national service team based in Romsey utilising mobile phones and GPS tracking systems.

This setup enables us to minimise the disruption and inconvenience to our customers of changing vehicles or the mercy of local garages.

In the event of being unable to repair a vehicle on site our own fleet of transporters can quickly exchange the stricken vehicle with a suitable replacement from our nearest branch.

The service team organise service and inspection schedules liasing with customers, drivers and our mobile mechanics to co-ordinate the optimum time and place to carry out the necessary work.

Many of our branches have body shops and are approved M.O.T. testing stations to widen our ability to speedily maintain our vehicles.

Over £½m of spares are stacked nationally by us to help ensure minimum downtime whilst vehicles are being serviced and repaired.

SHB workshops and mobile mechanics have been accredited by several manufacturers including Land Rover and Toyota, to carry out warranty repairs

Servicing customer's own vehicles

Over the years, being operators of the largest civilian Land Rover fleet in Europe, many of our hire customers asked us if we could maintain their own Land Rovers for them.

This has led to a substantial business in maintaining not just Land Rovers but all types of vehicles not only for major customers such as the National Trust and The Environment Agency but also for many private and corporate owners.

The combination of our on site servicing abilities and wide ranging workshop facilities have proved the ideal solution to many customers wishing to own their vehicles but not having their own maintenance capabilities.
